A neighborhood coffee shop designed around craft, warmth, and connection.
RDDNY transformed the Broadway location of Plowshares Coffee into an intimate specialty café that reflects the character of both the brand and its Upper West Side neighborhood.
The design combines warm wood surfaces, exposed brick, clean white walls, industrial lighting, and simple black detailing to create a space that feels authentic rather than overly designed. A prominent wood service counter organizes the compact interior and puts the coffee-making process at the center of the customer experience, while the open storefront brings natural light deep into the space and creates a strong visual connection to Broadway.
Every element was approached with the realities of a working café in mind—from customer circulation and seating to the espresso station, service areas, lighting, finishes, and storefront presence. The result is a compact hospitality space that feels welcoming, functional, and distinctly connected to the Plowshares identity.
Since opening, the Broadway café has become an established neighborhood destination and Plowshares describes it as a place for both specialty coffee and community.
